So, while toting my tube out of the woods the other day, the fly that was on my Phillipson, lashed to the side of the tube, snagged on a bush and while the rod was fine, a loose guide pulled off. It's still hanging there, but in need of repair. So, I have have a question:
When re-wrapping a guide, do you need to give the thread a coat of lacquer? I've wrapped a rod before, and while it won't be pretty, I figure I can manage a repair to get me through the season, but I didn't know if I should just leave the wraps bare or not. This rod is sweet, but a couple of the guides were bent, including the tiptop, so probably just forcing me to get it re-done after the season is over.
