I got up early. Check my flag - no wind. Was on the pond - secret pond, o.k. Delaney. Got two pickeral on my new hair bug - swallow jobs - not good. 8:30 am wind from south, no west, no north gusting 30 knots. Using a Coach Dog color Jitterbug land four pickeral, swicthed to all yellow Jitterbug same size, missede and not able to hook ten fish in a row. No bass today????

The water level is low, some areas have real estate showing. All fish are aggressive. I think the bass have shut down and in process of spawning.

I agree, I had a hard time hooking into any bass last weekend... they have gone on a nocturnal feeding cycle....threw everything at them... panfish and pike were on fire thou... maybe this weekend will be better

Yeah, the wind has been difficult this year. Out wading spectacle today and, mid-cast, the gust turns from quartering at my back to in my face. It was like that the entire time. It's nuts. High velocity, swirling... not only is the casting tough, but it's blowing all kinds of junk into the water.
The only good thing, as near as I can figure, is that it's turned the water over. Last week at this time the water was *very* chilly. Today it seems much less so. I hope that means the warmer shallows have mixed with cooler water and have moderated temps faster. Once things calm down the fishing should be good for a while. Two fish today: small LMB and another chunky BG. Mike |

I'd like to add another line to John's poem:
Wind from the West, fish bite the best. Wind from the East, fish bite the least. Wind from the North, do not go forth. Wind from the South blows bait in their mouth Wind gusting 30 knots for days on end frustrates the living daylights out of me, friend. Mike |
