WHAT! What the heck is Swimmers itch or Nutria Itch???? I never heard of it.... Several weeks ago, I spent a weekend float tube fishing several swampy type
warm water ponds, it was a great warm weather weekend. I was out in the clear part of the ponds/lakes, not in the pads/moss... fishing was great....have
fished in a float tube like that for years with no problems. This particular weekend, Sunday afternoon I started breaking out in a terrible chigger like
pus-like rash throughout my body, mostly on my legs, crotch and forearms...it was so bad, I went to my physician and he aggressively treated me with
Prednisone, Steroid cream and antibiotics... "Looks like Poison Ivy??? some type of Contact - Dermatitis???" I don't remember coming in contact
with Poison Ivy, but something got a hold of my butt and tore me up something awful....I was miserable for a week straight...I went in this morning for a
followup, my doctor had just came back form a Dermatology Conference in St. Louis. He stated that my intense inflamed skin condition & history several
weeks ago could very well be a microsopic parasite infestation I got from Swimmers Itch; also know in some parts of the country as Nutria Itch!!! Warm water
ponds that have waterfowl and mammals have pathogens and parasites that can be transmitted to humans....Holy Cow!! Beware if you are float tubing and wear
waders and treat them. These parasites can get into the fabric of neophrene waders like bed bugs, fester, and create havoc... I am using my Kayak for the rest
of this summer

Heck,... and I was worried about skin damage from the sun... Any one ever heard of this condition?
