Several weeks ago. Jeffsod and I fished a pond that was rumored to have huge small mouth in it....Well, we were like a couple of kids in a candy store and couldn't fish this pond fast enough....It was a beautiful piece of water, clear, deep, assortment of structure around the pond, hazy day, perfect conditions to pursue our quarry... Well, we saw numerous empty spawning beds and they were Huge!!! we also saw several huge bass swimming around and cast every fly we had at them, but they had one thing on their mind , SEX!.... and we didn't have any flies like that in our fly boxes.... they just were not interested...Jeff did get a hefty 2.5-3lbs smallie that gave him a heck of a fight...You know they are a big small mouth when you hook into them and they sound towards the deep and all you can do is hold and pray that you don't have on old tippet!!! Jeff did manage some other smaller fish and had some more strikes during the day but that was it...Me, I got skunked, humbled and sent home with my tail between my legs, but it was great to be on some beautiful water and fish with friends, as always it is an adventure and lots of laughs...I wasn't able to post pictures earlier (sick computer), so this is why for the late posting

What every fly fisherman hopes for .....no wind and anticipation of catching boat loads of fish

Jeff armed with his vintage Phillipson fly rod just about gets his arm pulled off from this mean tempered small mouth...he fished hard and was rewarded with a nice trophy

Hard to tell from this picture but this small mouth had beautiful colors.... gave Jeff 5 full minutes of palpitations in fighting him to the surface

We saw several huge fish swimming around the beds but they weren't cooperating... only this ill tempered 3 pounder was willing to visit us with a Goldie in it's mouth

We plan on fishing this pond again after the spawning is finished, there was a lot of water we didn't get a chance to fish due to lack of time... we know there are some more fish to be had and lots of quality fish to be caught. Thanks Jeff for another great fishing adventure....They were just playing hide and seek this day...we'll get'em next time
