Theres a bunch of guys on the Fiberglass Forum who are from Texas. They would probably be able to help you out with the info you need. |

Generally when I travel to a new area, I do a yellowbook search for fly shops within a 50 mi radious of my destination ( Texas is a BIG place!). Then I call
the fly shop and pick their brains on what to bring, what to expect ( weather, water types, fish cooperation, etc) and maybe a guide/ accessable location. Once
I arrive, i stop in that shop, drop a few $'s and renew the conversation. They are usaully pretty good in helping me out.

For catching reds and specs on the lower Texas coast out Port Mansfield, there is no question that captain brandon schuler is your man.
Here's his website: http://www.getawayadventureslodge.com/brandon.htm Although I have fished the upper and middle coasts, I have never employed fly fishing guides there. As for bass fishing, east texas' Lake Fork is the obvious choice and Rob woodruff is the man to call: http://www.flyfishingfork.com/ Tight Lines, Les |

Don't know if this will interest you or not, but I have a friend in TX who has a guiding service in the hill country.
Here's a link to his site: http://www.texasriverbass.com/ If you contact him, tell him Jim Hester referred you. |
