Well, I can't compare my amateur bug work to B52, but I have to say I am having a lot of fun spinning deer hair and such... I try to tie one fly a night before going to bed... relaxes & wind me down, so I can sleep. Here are some of my creations...don't laugh....this is a lot harder than it looks, but a lot of fun.

Some small gill cork poppers size 6 & 8, I couldn't find balsa ... I even have some made out of ear foam plugs I will post later...

Deer hair bugs that hopefully bring a prize bass, I am using a smaller hook than 1/0... easier to throw with an 8 wt

Mix of little bit new and traditional.... hairy frogs with rubber legs...

Now all I need to do is go to Bears Den Fly Shop and get a new fancy BassBug fly box, and I will be the baddest look-in fly bugger on the pond

Gillbuster - remember they only work if you add water, also say rib-it, rib-it, rib it. About balsa wood, I go to a place in Marlboro called Spare Time Shop but I have also got balsa from Michael's, AC Moore craft store. The last piece I got was triangle shape - I think it 1" thick. I got a brass pipe nipple 3/8" X 1 1/2" from plumbing dept., HOME DEPOT. Inside diameter 1/2". Cut the balsa what ever length you want 1 1/4" for example. Pound the end with the nipple, then push out with screwdriver or pen. It's like a cookie cutter operation - have f-u-n

Nice work Gillbuster!

Got a bunch of bugs myself now but haven't been making them. Got to get to workin on that. They had a tent sale at orvis last weekend
(2nd time this summer I caught that) and they had bass flies for $.75 each. Couldn't resist. Bought one of the adjustable boxes and loaded them up

. Now I got to get on the water and try them...

Master Guide

u can get Balsa wood in sticks 3 foot long at hobby Lobby. I buy them in 1/4 inch square sticks for brim bugs and 1/2 inch square sticks for bass bugs. Pretty cheap.
