A late afternoon thunderstorm rolled thru our area and threatened to put a damper on plans to get on the water for some Sunday afternoon bass buggin. We
actually had hoped to get on the water earlier in the day with a forecast for mostly cloudy skies and light north winds but as usual the forecast was
wrong and it turned out bright and sunny with strong southerly winds. But in the end things turned around after the storm and it was an absolutely
splendid evening on the water!
I have been looking forward to getting some bass on bugs with this new setup and things finally came together where I could actually put it to the true test. We had ideal conditions on some new water that turned out to have just the perfect structure (lily pads) for what we wanted.
So I finally caught some nice largemouths on this new combo and was able to experience just what its like to have a LMB explode on a bass bug with this fine rod
. I don't think the old Garcias going to be getting
much time in the rod rotation going forward. This Orvis labeled Phillipson is just too sweet!!!
I must have hit the bass in the photo on the head with the bug because the instant it hit the water exploded and I was on
Very Fun stuff...
