Went to Cabelas yesterday in East Hartford CT & would highly recommend you using the Catalog for your shopping. Went to the fishing department and listened
to the staff complaining how hard they had to work and how screwed-up everything was. It was early in the morning so I decided to come back later after things
would settle down. Three hours later, they were still at it and just let me stand there. They do have a friendly staff, because they always say hi, but never
say can I help you. If you need help, you have to break up a group discussion & then you may get lucky. I go their because I wear 3XL - Long & few
other outfitters carry my size. I found some shirts I love & asked sales woman if they had my size & she said there might be some in the piles, if I
wanted to look! Went to "Fly Shop" to hear the Manager recommend a bamboo rod repair guy - "That's where I send all my Leonards". I
wonder why you send your Leonards for repair. Why don't you take care of them? Finally he sold a guy a Cortland 555, because he did not know anyone who
could cast the 444! Before we left, we went up to the restaurant in the store & the Diet Coke machine had no syrup in it. Details people, details
In CT you have to pay sales tax & if they don't have the item, they will have it shipped to the store to save you postage. Of course, there is gas costs to consider.
Bleak review - not at all. This type of service insures the financial health of our fly shops. They have announced they are not going to open any more new stores in the future.
