Great film of Fly fishing for Bass, a must see...

Big news from the HowardFilms office in Virginia!

Our road trip "Bass: The Movie" is done -- by the Holidays no less! The 2-disc set includes "Bass: The Movie" and Disc 2: The road trip continued. Disc 2 includes a complete retrospective interview with Bill Dance, done over a couple days on my trip to Memphis, and scenes not included in the movie including bass caught in unique ways in some unique places. In case you hadn't heard, the movie brings both fly and conventional anglers together to compare skills and tactics and world record holders from both sides as well. I won't tell you who caught the biggest fish, but all I can say is both sides respected the fish's size.

Just recieved Bass" the Movie in the mail... it is a good flim, a good collectible for your bass fishing reference... California has some wonderful bass fsheries and the scenery is outstanding... well worth the investment

Much thanks to Gillbuster for the loan of this nice LMB movie.

Well done and if you have ever been interested in flyfishing for California largemouths you will be inspired to make the trip after watching it.

I was a bit curious about a very special fly they used in the movie on the slime mats of the California Delta. I personally never envisioned fishing that stuff so that in itself was eye opening. The guys out there developed a very special weedless fly for skipping over the slime mat surface that may have application for similar conditions in our area.

Someone from the fly tying forum was nice enough to share a link to a step by step for the pattern.

How heavy do you think the KDM rat is with that lead sheet on the bottom?

I would think plastic or fiberglass would be better than lead and not as heavy to cast... oh well, looks awesome and definitiely catches some big Bass....

He states he uses melted solder which is lighter than lead and is very thin. I think I might try making one. If I do I'll let you know. I will definitrly treat the hair too.
