Hey, any members of United Fly Tyers here (Armand)?

I only ask because I was recently invited (I'm not a member) to the group's 50th anniversary banquet, which is at the Sudbury Wayside Inn (remember that place where Armand posted the photos of all those monster trout?) in late October. If there are members present, I'll let them post the details and make the pitch for attending, but if there are no members I'll put up some details and contact info for someone who can get you tickets if you want to attend. Ticket price is $40 for the meal, some casting for those trout, and some other stuff to hear and buy.

I'm told Armand (B52 Bugger) is a member and sits on the board, so if you are interested in attending the United Fly Tyers banquet, get in touch with him. Here's the info I got in an email:

I would like to invite you to attend the 50^th Anniversary Gala of the United Fly Tyers.

We are the oldest and continuous Fly Tying organization in the nation. We are dedicated to keeping the art alive an teach hundreds of people each year the art and fun of Tying. The club has many experts and professional tyers.

The Gala will be on October 25^th at the Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury. Dinner and a cash bar $40.00 includes an auction of some nice art pieces for the home, so bring your wife if she should like to come. If you wish, I believe we can fish in the little pond out back where some 20 to 24" trout reside. "Barbless" of course.

This is the main fund raiser this year so I hope you can help. Come, hear and meet so world class tyers, some from yesteryear.

If you cannot come, please consider buying one ticket. I would make sure that some of our older members who may not have the means can come and reminisce.

Please let me know. The checks can be made out to "UFT"

It's a time for friends and family. Being a part of a club that made it happen. Fufty years ago. Fly tying was raised to a new level. In the fifties the biggest thing in fly tying was for trout and salmon. From the beginning people from both west and east coast learned about salt water fishing, Fishing for fresh water bass, pike, muskies. We started to receive letters from people from Europe, Austrralia, South America. People were tying flies from Kenya and Singapore etc.

Tickets are $ 40. each. Dinner/auction will be October 25th a Sunday at historic Longfellow's Wayside Inn, Wayside Inn Road, Sudbury, MA. from 5 pm to 9 pm. Make checks to United Fly Tyers, mail to Armand Courchaine, 70 Kosmas Street, Marlborough, MA 01752-2536

Trout Fishing in Josephine's pond, free, no license, barbless hooks, fly fishing only, catch and release, no wading from 12 pm to 4 pm

I promise you will have a good time, and a chance to get good tackle. Hope to see you there.

I will be here for the fiftieth, but not the hundred.

I wish I could attend it but I live in New Jersey about 4 hours away from your beautiful state, and I just turned 16 so I haven't gotten my license yet. But it sounds like loads of fun. But I will be attending the Fly Tying Symposium at the Double Tree hotel in Somerset, New Jersey.That should be a good time. I didn't know if any of you guys were attending the Symposium. But I will get back to you guys on how the Symposium goes.

Sold twenty - received nine. President Obama said he can't make it. Dick Cheney is fishing - can't make it. Jimmy Carter is busy. Oh well - we'll make the best of it.

I don't know where my dang head is at....ought to be whipped with a wonderod!!! Just looked at my calendar and realized I missed the UTF 50th dinner...I got the flipping dates mixed up...I deeply apologize for not attending.. Crap!, I bet I missed a good dinner at the Wayside Inn and good trout fishing opportunity... Dag-Gummit!!! I've got CRS (can't remember s&*t) syndrome... Truly sorry guys...
