A bass doesn't care what the rod he's caught on is made of. But I enjoy fishing bamboo, and was fortunate recently to acquire a Paul H. Young Co.
Parabolic 17. The serial #2226 dates the rod to about 1956, 8'6", two-piece, two tips (one "wet" or parabolic tip rated for G.B.F. line and
one dry fly tip for H.C.H. line), fixed two-inch extension butt. Originally built by Paul H. Young for Lloyd Lawson of Dearborn, MI, automotive engineer who
during World War II designed a custom dual-engine Ford truck to haul military bomber aircraft parts to factories for final assembly. This largemouth bass was
my first fish on the rod, taken while wading a shoreline. Fly was a Dark Edson Tiger. Lots of little yellow perch, about the same size as the fly, were in the
area.
