I dunno... this seems to be antithetical to every reason I fish. I don't think I could enjoy myself or appreciate the locations/experiences under these
circumstances.
That's not to say I don't think they shouldn't be doing it, just that I fish to slow things down and retreat from everything that life throws at me. This would only add to the things I'm trying to escape. Again, that's not a judgment, just my view. Mike (I might be tempted, however, if I had $ponsor$ and someone handling the logistics...) |

Mike,
Yes, I can somewhat agree...in one sense. It is like the book "50 Places to Fish before you Die", it is about the life experience and doing it with his son...Although, I think they are pushing it too hard, 2 states in one day....Wow, but that is because of the available fishing seasons, I guess... I would love to experience this and to go on a "road trip", meet new people, fish new locations, enjoy/absorb all the trip events and life has to offer... some of the comments/observations that Dad has stated in daily YouTube blog, so far was very genuine and unique... Fish on Guys!!! |

Interesting spin-off topic we have going here. While the footage has me drooling, I'm more alined with Spinzo's initial thoughts. My type b
personality dictates that I fish because I enjoy it and fish only when I enjoy it. While the first week or two or so would be cool, (especially since
it is shared with my son), I'm thinking this could become a "have to do" vs 'love to do:" by day 25. ( Ok and admittedly, my son and I
would be rolling around the camp with each other in a in a choke hold by day 26 |

Day 39.. fishing Maine's famous Penobscot River - 4 hour float was a fish-fest caught a journey record 69 fish - which bested previous record of 50 from
North Dakota... I have fished this section of the Penobscot River near Old Town, Maine and it is absolutely outstanding smallmouth fishing...would love to get
a Bass Pond gathering there some year... Way to go Guys!!!!

If I haven't mentioned it yet, I've come around on my thinking on this odyssey. I'm all for it, even if it's not the approach I like. Perusing
some of the journal entries, this journey seems to be all about a the love of a dad and a son for each other and of fishing -- in that order. What could
possibly be wrong with that?

i just came back from maine. i had a early 16 birthday present from my uncle and thats a drift boat trip down the east branch of the kennebec river. and the
morning was slow but around 9 we got into them. i caught a beautiful 19 inch landlock salmon and many other small salmon a 12 inch brookie and a 3 pound
smallie. i got the grandslam of the eastern branch of the kennebec my guide said. he also said he's never seen such a young kid cast so far for the
smallies and precision cast for the salmon and trout. But anyway we were staying at Lake St. George campground right by Liberty Maine. And it was a 2 hour
drive to Moosehead Lake region where the shop was. So i had to get up at 3:30 to get there at our 7:00 appointment. But then we brought our little 14 foot row
boat and we fished Lake St. George and i had a spinning rod with a fluke and a hook and every cast was a smallie on the other end of the line with the
occasional 4 pound largemouth. But the i brought out my fly pole and put on a black woolly bugger and caught 50 smallies on that. i also had a big largemouth
but he broke off. so If you are ever in the Moosehead Lake region look up these guys and it was a blast. i cant stop saying good things about these guys.
Everything was supplied he helped my uncle with his casting it was excellent well worth the money.
