Great to see you again, hope we can get together this coming season... Hope those flies will put some fish in the boat. Let me know if you need some other flies and I will gladly send you a variation of some of my flies that have worked for me.

Hey John ,
Thanks for the kind welcome. I really like the Old Pflueger Medalist reels (Akron).Use mine for all fresh water fishing .I collect & refurbish & upgrade them too .Just wondering if any of the other Bass Pond members do the same. Those old reels just keep working ,year after year . Tough to beat them.

I love the Pflueger reels too. The vintage reels with the swirls in the plastic are nice and the metal tab yellow knobs even better! I have a soft spot for the four clickers!! I picked up this one last year and gave it a complete take down, thorough cleaning and a tune up including fresh lube. The drag was all gummed up but she cleaned up nice. Just has a slight bend in the spool where the knob was pressured probably during transport at some point in its long career but still a very fine functional bass buggin reel! I actually was just working on another one tonight that is in even better shape and should clean nicely.

Hi Jeff,
thats a very interesting model Medalist. it has the six rivets ,amber knob ,metal spool cap & the sculptured pillars .I haven't seen one with these features & not have the round line guard .Pflueger must have just been switching over to the flat guards .Very nice reel. Man , they have a class & character the new reels just dont capture.Have you ever checked out onepfoot.com

Those 2 1496.5 reels are my favorites in the collection. I haven't purchased anything from onepfoot previously but would like to get a pawl and spring kit for a backup since I have a number of these reels-

Just found out I won a Sci Angler Shark Skin line at the Bears Den show so now I have super cool line to try out on one of my empty reels.
