So, I tried some thing new, took a long shanked #6 aberdeen hook and used @ 6" of 1/8" strip of yellow foam... lined and tied it to the whole straight part of the hook to make the hook float. Then I tied (4) 4" strips of gold bodie braid at the tail, then (6) 2 " strips of gold bodie braid towards the head. I left a bulk foam head and tied a orange collar. The whole fly is a bout 2 1/2-3 1/2" long. I tied it to the bass leader using a rapala knot to give it additional free floating action...Wow, I had top water action like a sluggo when I stripped it, only it slurped when I stripped it...
1.5 hour of fishing results
3 hefty bass...each about 2.5 - 3 lbs
5 average crappie
1 huge white perch
4 aggressive bluegills
Numerous Explosive action with missed fish ....experience priceless
