If I could buy a Pfleuger Medalist 1492 that I can reverse to hold the rod in my Right hand and reel with my Left hand I'd have bought another and been happy with it. I do not want a cheap fly reel, I want an inexpensive, light, good reel. I made this flyrod from a Rainforest RF2SP600, 5ft., 1pc., line wt. 1- 4lb., blank wt. .60oz., slow action, spinning blank. I used an REC cap & ring seat with a cork insert & a cigar grip. The guides are a #8 CLAG Fuji Alconite and #6's to and for the tip. The completed rod weighs 1.7oz. on the scale at the local U.S.P.S.I also built me a spinning rod from the same model blank. My Pfleuger Medalist 1494, the lightest Medalist that reverses, my Orvis 3/4 Battenkill, pre barstock, and my S.A. Concept2 reel are about twice as heavy a reel as this rod needs. I've already been taken into the backing by a 4 1/4 lb. Hybrid Stripe crappie fishing on the Mulberry Fork of the Warrior River so I need a good drag and not just a place to store line. Ultra - light doesn't mean little fish to me, it means hunting good fish, big fish, on 3wt. fly tackle & lighter and 2 & 4lb. line for spinning. When you are surprised by a 6 lb. Channel cat, and land him, while you're fishing a floating Wooly Worm, (webworm imitation) on a 7ft. 3wt. with 5x tippet you are fishing ultra-light. When you tackle down so you can enjoy the fight of 5 & 6in. brookies, or other small stream small fish, you're fishing ultra - light. If you hunt big Flathead Catfish or fish inshore with 20lb. or lighter... well you get the picture. Now, does any one have information/knowledge about this 2.2oz. White River reel or another reel that will work for this rod? Please let me know.

Spinzo, we need to go fishing, together. I did not mean to go into a rant. I've had a rough weekend, with the wife and two out of three sisters-in law in both ears all day Saterday and most of Sunday. I mean no offense. NOW, an open season on inlaws... well...
