I was very pleased when I received my mint 8wt Garcia with case this past winter. I didn't have any 8wts for buggin yet and the rod appeared to have never
been fished. I just love the style for a bass buggin rod. The rod is on the little on the heavy side but the vintage amber knobbed Pfleuger 1496&1/2 I
paired it with balances it quite well.

I have been waiting for the opportunity to use this combination since I lined the reel up with a Sci Angler Headstart a couple of months ago....

Finally, got out a couple of times with the Orvis marked Phillipson. Tonight was really the first good trip with it though and got some nice action on the bass
bug. This rod certainly is much more refined than the Garcia and will probably be my primary buggin rod going forward. Hope to post a couple of photos once my
partner emails them my way....

Recently I posted the above photos of the nice 8wt Garcia I picked up earlier this year for Bass Buggin. Not long after I had received that rod another
opportunity presented itself and while I hardly need more than one bass buggin rod I couldn't resist this one. Opportunities to pick up a new unused
Phillipson don't come along very often so I went for it.

I haven't been able to squeeze in an opportunity to take out the new Orvis marked Phillipson on the water or even cast it until last Thursday night. I am
extreemely pleased with the action and with my purchase.

The two rods are quite different but both serve the purpose very well. The Phillipson is shorter by six inches and much more balanced in the hand. Being
shorter by six inches and generally a lighter production blank it is noticably lighter in the hand while fishing. I also found it to be much more accurate in
placement which when targeting openings in heavy cover is a big plus. The Garcia is...

Jeff,
Very cool...love the pictures, love exploring new water and buggy areas..I have been fishing Gushee pond in Raynham...lots of pads... got the buggin fever this
time of year... I call it heart attack fishing... you either have heart palpatations or soil your self when a nice fat bass unexpectedly explodes under your
bug,,,, places like this is where big bass grow old and cranky...love the post...

I have been waiting for the opportunity to use this combination since I lined the reel up with a Sci Angler Headstart a couple of months ago. Well tonight
things finally came together and I was able to get out on the water in my Grumman at a local pond that as you can see has some ideal buggin water.

The herring spawn in this pond and the place was just crawling with baby herring fry. I have only really fished this area in the early spring so I wasn't
expecting much in the way of action. I was just hoping for one decent bass to christen the setup and thats exactly what I got. It was great!!
