Hi,

I just wanted to report on my last foray to a nearby smallmouth stream (the Big River just south of St Louis MO) We were clobbering the smallies and spots on
pearl shiners dead drifted with just a twitch or two through the pools. Also the venerable Sneaky Pete in chartreuse was also doing well. We had fished down

Paul, Thats a good story on how/why to be cautious while wading...I also remember taking a dunk some years ago during duck hunting season... putting out duck
decoys, stepped into a hole wellover my head in subfreezing water...Man, talk about getting your attention...Wow!...got back to the the truck, turned the heat
on full blast and stripped down to my scivvies...prayed, I wouldn't get pulled over by the police while driving home....Wife laughed out loud while I
pulled in the driveway and got out with just my wet draws on... John

We had fished down
till the river was too deep to wade any further (with all the rain we have had) unfortunately the return trip involved not "finding" the really
usefull gravel bar in the murky water and stepping into a very deep hole. Good news is I kept my cigar lit and smoking through most of the dunking but did
manage to drop it during the coughing spell that followed me breathing through it as I SWAM back to shore! But despite the unexpected spill the extra rain has REALLY improved the
fishing in this river.
