I got out for a bit (5-9pm) on Tuesday night near Taunton. With the warm weather, the plan was to fish below the surface until the sun got low, then start pounding the edges of the pads with frogs. It worked out pretty well! Decent numbers of crappie, bluegill, pickerel, and one LM kept me entertained while I waited for the air to cool. A moderately slow retrieve of a goldie along the bottom did the trick. Around 8:30 I headed close to the pads and worked my way back toward the car. Nothing huge, but I got some great explosions and landed a number of fiesty LM. Forgot the bug spray though ans around 9 it was all I could do to fight them off while making the final cross pond kick to shore. I didn't even bother fishing because the thought of landing a small bluegill with 5 mosies sucking on my face was not too appealing. All in all a great time though. I'll be sure to use the spray this weekend though!!

<img...

Fished Assabet River, Stow, MA last night. The last time I fished was June 30. With 90 - 100 degree daytime heat, the floating weed population has exploded. In most places accross the width of the river. I fished some pockets in the weeds. Got two bass, on Armand's chartuese frog. The frogs started croaking 8:15 pm I caught the first fish at that time, the next fish at 8:45 pm. The mosquitos chased me off the river. Jeffsod was right, Phillpson was one of the Cadillac's of glass rods, he has the same rod...Now let's see how it handles some aggressive fish on the the rod...Today, I gave it a good workout...

Tonight I had the pleasure of float tubing a small kettle pond that is literally overun with largemouth bass. The setting is an ideallic 28 acre kettle pond surrounded by tall whispering pines providing much protection from wind.

There doesn't seem to be too much in the way of fish forage for the bass. They seem very keyed in on the bugs and I often find them feeding like trout on whatever hatches maybe occurring whether its midges or mayflies.

Tonight started very windy with a very comfortable dry NW/W wind providing much desired relief from humid tropic like conditions of the last few days. I was fortunate to have some time to get out and fish after work as I have been wanting to get back to this pond with the float tube again. Last visit was brief but I caught many LMB on my synthetic streamer. The last day I was there it was windy too and the fish were feeding on bugs and ants blown onto the waters surface.
Hello - new member here and wondering if anyone might be willing to share. I have relatives on Cape Cod and have made numerous trips up in the past. I developed an interest in the ponds quite some time ago and have gotten into the habit of bringing my yaks and gear up to hunt ponds and try to find fish. I have had some good luck with LM and Pickeral but haven't found any smallies on previous trips. Haven't been up in the last 2-3 years, but running up this week and going to fish from the 25-30th. Staying with relatives on South Yarmouth. Interestingly even though they have lived there for years they no literally nothing about pond fishing up there!
